Thank you, Eric. The time and information you’ve given is appreciated. Your deep-dive and due-diligence on printing options is of particular interest since that is where many first time, self-published authors are (or soon will be) in their publishing journey. There appears to be a consensus of agreement concerning the quality and consistency with well established Chinese printers. Although I would prefer to offset print, I still have concerns regarding the printing supply chain going through China. With the current international climate of geo-political issues, volatile relationships, supply chain logistics, dock strikes, and other externalities, it’s helpful knowing you feel that outsourcing from there, regarding quality and costs, is the best course of action for now.

You are very welcome Mac! Yeah… as you said (and I share the same concerns): “with the current international climate of geo-political issues, volatile relationships, supply chain logistics, dock strikes, and other externalities, it’s helpful knowing you feel that outsourcing from there, regarding quality and costs, is the best course of action for now”. Yes, it’s still the most logical path (and most profitable), for now.

Learned a lot. I don’t know if I’m ready to do offset just yet. POD is probably for now working better for me. I just joined (pending) Eric’s facebook group. He is so right about putting all your metadata in one spot. I can’t tell you how mine is all over and when I need any of it, I have to search all over. Putting it all neatly in one file only would save me a lot of heartache and time.

The offset is financially more advantageous than POD but it comes with a storage disadvantage for those of us who would need to rent a garage… or something. But then, I wouldn’t like to put books in a … garage. Anyway, I want to say THANK YOU for this informative session with lots of information coming in bulk. 🙂 I’m not familiar with those acronyms that stood for something like ‘filled by AMZ’ or ‘filled by the merchant’ but I guess I need to explore further to have it clear in my mind.
